First I just list some of the underlying principles and common tools; then I share the various text processing tools I myself have written over the years. Some of the larger tools are accompanied by screencast videos to quickly give you an impression of what they can do.

In this post I argue against copy protection (DRM) on e-books (and in general) and how it harms interoperability, software freedom, fair use and consumer privacy. I also show that DRM can be broken because the technology is defective by design. I give some pointers for Linux users to allow them to read their own legally acquired e-books with any suitable free open source software.
